Twin Peaks UK festival 2019 art gallery

"Where we're from, the birds sing a pretty song and there's always music in the air"

I'm very happy to announce that my Twin Peaks bird trilogy drawings will be on display next weekend 5th & 6th October 2019 at the Twin Peaks UK Festival in London at the Stoke Newington Town Hall. The event has a whole art gallery dedicated to Twin Peaks inspired art. The Twin Peaks UK Festival is officially licensed by Twin Peaks Productions.

I'm a big Twin Peaks fan myself. Have been since I was 13 years old and the series came out originally. This is also the first time that my art is on display in the United Kingdom, so this is awesome to me on many levels :)

Garden of death

Hemulen in the garden of death.

Combining two of my favorit artists in this picture; Tove Jansson and Hugo Simberg.

Tove Jansson (1914 -2001) is one of the best known artist from Finland.
She was a multi-talented artist and author who is mostly remembered as a creator of the Moomins.
The weird and friendly garden enthusiastic Hemulen is one of my favorit characters.

Hugo Simberg (1873 -1917) was a significant symbolic painter and graphic artist from Finland.
Angels, demons and death played a big role in his art. His tender and humorous images of death invites the viewer to consider mortality in a new light.

whale drawing

So, my first drawing this year is a whale!
A few years ago I saw a whale for the first timne in my life. It was not a humpback whale but a sperm whale at Andenes/Norway. To see a real whale was a very special moment for me. A dream come true! Obviously I'm going to draw a sperm whale at some point too 😊

Snake drawing

I'm also available for commission work! If you want a unique drawing of your favorite animal, we can discuss it :) price range for a A5 or A4 drawing is about 150-200€

The snake drawing below is my newest comission work.

Predator or prey

Predator or prey. A new creature of the night...

Wolf

A creature that walks by night and makes no sound.

Magpie king

Ink drawings continue! Here is the magpie king 😄
We have magpies in our backyard almost everyday. They are such intelligent birds ♥
Please notice that I'm also wearing a magpie shirt in the drawing photo 😉

Greedy frog

Here is my newest ink drawing. The greedy frog, or rather toad. I'm also working on a bling bling loving magpie drawing right now. This year has started out great artwise :) I started to do more drawings sometime last autumn...it took me a few months to get back into it, but now it feels easy again. Like they say, it's practice, practice, practice...

Crested tit ink drawing

I promised more bird drawings! Here is a crested tit ink drawing. I just love birds!
This is my first drawing this year! I hope there will be lots of drawings this year :)

Blue tit ink drawing

For pretty much 15 years my main medium has been acrylic paint. The last few months however, I've been back to drawing, which is my first medium. I'm currently at home with our baby girl and when the baby sleeps or is calmly playing by herself, I'm working on small drawings. It's just easier than working on big paintings, that require a lot of space. Yesterday I did this blue tit drawing. Today I've already been working on a new bird drawing, so stay tuned for more birds!

Eleven

So, you might have noticed that I'm a Game of Thrones fan ;)

I've been into fantasy art and fantasy literature and such. Dragons, wizards, vampires, witches...I just love the fantasy world (we all love to escape this world from time to time, don't we?).  I'm also into scifi and eighties (I was born in the eighties) so "Stranger Things" is obviously something I'm into as well :)

Strong women always inspire me. "Eleven" from Stranger Things is such a cool character. So vurnable and so strong at the same time. I've been doing some ink work lately and here is a little drawing I did of eleven :)
