Photos from the Chicago gallery

Last autumn I participated in a gallery show in Chicago. Along myself there were 14 other artists link presenting their work in the show. I was very happy to be able to present my work outside my homecountry. In the future I would like display my work more outside Finland :) Of course that is not so easy because having a gallery show isn't all that cheap. Framing paintings costs a lot of money and so does shipping etc. But I'll try investing money in these things anyway :)

New painting Captain

New painting Captain (60 x 50cm, mixed media ). I painted this a few months ago and added some last strokes yesterday. Painting is based on a photo of model mosh . I'm myself pretty happy how the painting turned out. It's quite different from my usual style since it looks so much like some comic book character. Why this is only painted in tones of white is that I thought myself of some captain of a ghost ship

Group Show in Chicago

I'll have a group show in Chicago at Gallery Provocateur.
The Exhibition will run October 30th, 2010 through January, 2011

14 Artist will be displaying their dark artwork. Apart from myself the artists are:Christopher Shy, Donald White, Charles Moesch, Charlie Immer, Chris Guarino, Bethalynne Bajema, Myke Amend, Benoit Polveche, Clayton Chandler, Chad Savage, Aunia Kahn, David Normal and Kalli Haun.
Gallery Provocateur was founded 2008 by Veronika Kotlajic who is also head curator of the gallery. Veronika was co-founder and curator for Echo Gallery, Chicago from 2001 through 2005. Gallery Provocateur holds 4 rotating exhibitions per year showing the works of both local and international artists.

New hair, new website

I did two new things today... After considering a new haircut for pretty much a year I got bangs today :) take a look at the pics below... Another new thing I did today is a NEW WEBSITE. For quite some time I have been embarrased about my website and I redesigned it. I started yesterday and I finished today so it was a quick thing (it's good to be a geek!). In the next weeks I keep on working on it here and there. Adding more things but for the most part I'm done.

ink stain

I painted this rather experimental splashy painting last weekend. I had to paint it mostly horizontal so it wouldn't drip too much.

Acrylic paint on canvas measures 46 x 56cm. I also used some candle wax here and there.

RIP Frank Frazetta

The grandfather of fantasy art Frank Frazetta past away a few days ago. As a teenager I started to draw Fantasy Art after seeing art of artists like Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo. Frazettas work has influenced many artists and my jaw still drops each time I look at his work.

Octopus

I did this octopus painting. I've had it in my mind eversince I painted my painting "horns".
I originally wanted to paint it on wood too...but since I did not have wood around I painted it on acrylic paper.

The size is about 42x56 cm
