RIP Frank Frazetta

The grandfather of fantasy art Frank Frazetta past away a few days ago. As a teenager I started to draw Fantasy Art after seeing art of artists like Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo. Frazettas work has influenced many artists and my jaw still drops each time I look at his work.

Octopus

I did this octopus painting. I've had it in my mind eversince I painted my painting "horns".
I originally wanted to paint it on wood too...but since I did not have wood around I painted it on acrylic paper.

The size is about 42x56 cm

Before starting to paint I took a pic of the sketch :D

Kafka beetle drawing

I did this "Kafka beetle" drawing. Gregor Samsa is a character in The Metamorphosis, a short story by Franz Kafka. Gregor tries to live his life after having been transformed into a giant insect. I read the story many years ago in college but and the part I remember best is that Gregors father throws apples at him. One apple gets stuck in his back. The apple starts to rotten and Gregor gets sick. In my version an apple tree starts to grow from his back :-o The apple tree might be a symbol for various things. I myself thought of it as a burden which grows and takes you over. But for somebody else it might be the opposite of the rottening apple. Something good that starts to grow. Go and figure out :)

Giger exhibition in Tampere

Today we drove with my boyfriend all the way to Tampere just to see the H.R Giger exhibition. I must say that to me Giger is the greatest artist alive. I can not think of anybody else who would have such a unique style and be so skilled. I enjoyed the exhibition so much that I almost did not want leave.
In original the paintings were just amazing. You could see all the little details you never see in prints. Apart from all the amazing paintings and statues I really enjoyed the small things as well such as Gigers childhood drawings and essays.Photos from the exhibition:

Our rescue dog Tita

Here are some pics of me from last weekend. These photos were taken by my boyfriend Asko. Indeed I love both sides of a camera ;)
In the photos you can see our little dog. She's a little stray dog whom we adopted from Spain.

My photo in a travel magazine

Earlier this year I participated in a travel photo competition. There was also a section for photos taken in Finland. I submitted a few photos, but did not win :(

This week however I discovered my photo in a travel magazine and turns out it was among the best photos of the competition after all :)

I scanned the magazine page. My photo is the dock photo.

3D max exam day

Today I had a 3D Studio Max exam at school. It was fun although I'm not very good at it yet.
But all creative things are fun. Maybe I'll learn to think more dimensions :~D

Here is a silly little room I did...
